Kodaikanal had more number of Flora&Funa in the past like the Black Panther the Damp – Loving Frogs etc. The high elevations of the Palanis were typified by three natural Ecosystems steep rock escarpments, grasslands and sholas. The rock bluffs and precipices, sometimes overlooking sheer drops oftwo to three thousand meters, were the home of the Nilgiri Thar an endangered “Goat – Sheep” whose nearest relative is the Himalayan Thar which is another end of India.
Kodaikanal, 2,000 meters above sea level, the town centers around man-made, star-shaped Kodaikanal Lake, bordered by evergreen forest.

Itinerary
Silent Valley
Silent Valley View, situated at a short distance from Pillar Rocks, can be seen on the Berijam lake road. The best time to make a visit to this valley is during early morning and late afternoon. Since the valley is deep, children visiting this valley have to be accompanied by their parents.
Fire Tower
This Fire Tower built by Forest Office to monitor the forest fire. Public is allowed to see the forest from this Tower. Views from this tower are breathtaking.
Caps Fly Valley
One of the offbeat attractions in Kodaikanal. It is fondly called “thoppi vesum paarai” in tamil; means “throwing cap rock”. It is because; If you throw a cap from the hill it will come back due to heavy winds up there.
Berijam Lake Views
Berijam Lake is a quaint reservoir located 22 km from Kodaikanal main stand. With several activities like fishing, safari tours and bird watching, the lake is nature’s unhindered beauty in the midst of a forest conservation area.
Medicine Forest
This forest is very much isolated from the Kodaikanal main attractions. One has to take a forest permit and around 25 kms into the forest, you can find this artificial lake.
Berijam Lake
The lake facilitates the habitat of many animals such as Bison, Indian Elephant, Nilgiri Langur and Deer, and if you’re lucky, you will also be able to catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures.
Kodai Lake Or City Drop
Kodaikanal Lake, also known as Kodai Lake is a manmade lake located in the Kodaikanal city in Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu, India. Sir Vere Henry Levinge, the then Collector of Madurai, was instrumental in creating the lake in 1863, amidst the Kodaikanal town which was developed by the British and early missionaries from USA.

Calm and quite of forest experience couple with stunning lake view ! The drive is about an 1.5 hours from Kodai with a pass required from forest department. The drive is through the forest cover with a few view spots . When you get down the valley and get to see the lake the first views are mesmerising! If you have your vehicle it’s a great drive.
